Shaiqiu, Morning Mist & November Maples
By late September, the rice harvest is done. Around Huangling, families dry chilies, corn, chrysanthemums and beans on rooftop trays — the tradition known as Shaiqiu.
Mornings are often misty, clearing around 10 AM. Days stay mild and nights turn cool.
From early November, maples in Shicheng and Changxi turn red, marking the close of the season.

Huangling is a hillside Hui-style village, with homes stepping down the slope and drying racks hanging above narrow lanes. That makes autumn especially visible here. Shaiqiu is daily work, not a show — families use it to preserve food for winter.
